All nine were officially appointed to serve at Tanzania’s Court of Appeal, the country’s highest judicial body after the Constitution and special constitutional processes.

The appointments come at a time when Tanzania’s judiciary continues handling an increasing number of appeals, constitutional petitions, and politically significant legal cases.

Over the past few years, President Samia’s administration has overseen several judicial appointments and reforms aimed at increasing court efficiency and reducing case backlogs across different levels of the justice system.

The Court of Appeal plays a central role in reviewing decisions from the High Court and shaping legal interpretation in Tanzania, making appointments to the bench among the most significant changes within the country’s judicial system.
