Mohammed Dewji, popularly known as Mo Dewji, is a Tanzanian businessman, philanthropist, and former politician widely recognized as one of Africa’s youngest billionaires. Born in Singida in 1975, Dewji is the CEO of MeTL Group, one of East Africa’s largest conglomerates with investments in agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, textiles, and beverages. He previously served as a Member of Parliament for Singida Urban under Tanzania’s ruling CCM party. Beyond business, Dewji is known for philanthropy through the Mo Dewji Foundation and became internationally known after surviving a high-profile kidnapping attempt in 2018.
