Uganda Army Chief Muhoozi Offers 100,000 Troops to Defend Israel, Calls It “Holy Land”

Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the head of the Uganda People’s Defence Force and the son of Uganda’s president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has triggered widespread reactions after publishing two controversial posts on the social media platform X within hours.

In his first message, Kainerugaba declared he was ready to deploy 100,000 Ugandan troops to defend Israel, describing it as a “Holy Land” and “the country of Jesus Christ our God.” The statement quickly drew mixed reactions online and among political observers, given its strong religious tone and geopolitical implications.

I’m ready to deploy 100,000 ugandan soldiers in Israel. Under my command. To protect the Holy land. The land of Jesus Christ our God!

Hours later, the general posted a more aggressive message, claiming he had around 500,000 young fighters “hungry for war” who would be willing to invade Tehran without pay.

The remarks have been widely viewed as inflammatory, raising questions about Uganda’s stance on global conflicts, particularly tensions involving the Middle East.

Kainerugaba has previously expressed strong support for Israel. In March 2026, he stated that any attempt to destroy or defeat Israel would compel Uganda to join the war on Israel’s side, further signaling his alignment on the issue.

Known for his outspoken and often controversial presence on social media, the Ugandan army chief has repeatedly drawn attention for his direct commentary on international affairs. His latest posts have intensified scrutiny over how such statements reflect, or diverge from, official government policy.
