The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will run from June 19 to July 17, marking a major milestone for East Africa.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, the first time three nations will co-host the competition.
CAF has not yet announced which country will stage the opening match or the final.
The dates were approved by the FIFA Council during a meeting in Vancouver, Canada, after earlier concerns over the hosts’ readiness were addressed.
CAF president Patrice Motsepe said preparations are progressing well, expressing confidence that the tournament will be successfully delivered.
AFCON 2027 will also mark the competition’s return to East Africa for the first time in decades. The region last hosted the tournament in 1976, when it was held in Ethiopia.
The joint hosting is expected to drive infrastructure development, boost tourism, and strengthen regional cooperation, as the three countries coordinate efforts to meet CAF requirements.
Organisers are now expected to provide further details on venues, match scheduling, and logistics as preparations continue.
