Yoweri Museveni

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is a Ugandan politician, military strategist, and revolutionary leader who has served as the President of Uganda since 1986. Born in Ntungamo District in 1944, Museveni rose to power after leading the National Resistance Army (NRA) in a five-year guerrilla war that overthrew the government of Tito Okello. He is one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders and has played a major role in East African politics, regional security, and economic reforms. Museveni’s presidency has been marked by infrastructure growth and military influence, but also criticism over democratic freedoms and long-term rule.
