Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah

Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is a Namibian politician and diplomat who became the first female President of Namibia. Born in 1952, she has been a longtime member of the South West Africa People’s Organization (SWAPO), the party that led Namibia’s independence struggle against South African rule. Over the years, Nandi-Ndaitwah served in several senior government positions, including deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister, becoming one of the most influential political figures in Namibia and Southern Africa.
