Malawi

Malawi, officially the Republic of Malawi, is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa known for its friendly people, agricultural economy, and the vast Lake Malawi, one of Africa’s largest freshwater lakes. Its capital city is Lilongwe. Formerly known as Nyasaland during British colonial rule, Malawi gained independence in 1964 under the leadership of Hastings Kamuzu Banda. The country relies heavily on agriculture, particularly tobacco, tea, and maize, and plays an active role in regional organizations such as the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Malawi is also recognized for its rich cultural heritage, wildlife reserves, and growing efforts to improve healthcare, education, and economic development.
