Zambian Court Orders Seizure of $1.3 Million in Assets From Former President Lungu’s Son
Zambia’s High Court has ordered the seizure of assets worth more than $1.3 million from Dalitso Lungu, the son of former president Edgar Lungu, after ruling that he could not credibly explain how he acquired 79 vehicles, 23 parcels of land and other properties. The ruling by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court in Lusaka on Monday follows an application by the Director of Public Prosecutions arguing that the assets were “tainted” and likely linked to unlawful activity. Dalitso is reported to have failed to offer verifiable evidence that the wealth was lawfully obtained.
