Iran has released a new state television film displaying an underground complex which is seemingly one of its large missile bases to show its firepower still considerable despite repeated assertions by US president Donald Trump and prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Iran’s weapons have been decimated.
The film, which was released by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB NEWS), has long rows of missiles stacked neatly one on top of the other deep underground, which one Iranian minister said was only ‘a small portion of the country’s power’.
The clip appeared to directly challenge remarks made by Trump and Netanyahu earlier this week claiming that the two countries’ jointly conducted strikes had severely impaired Iran’s arsenal.
The underground compound-dubbed by Iranian authorities a ‘missile city‘-seen in the report had tunnels that were full of weapons ready to be launched thereby upholding Iran’s long-held claim that the missiles were shielded from US air strikes.
Iranian state media dubbed the film a warning, showing the stockpile as only ‘the tip of the iceberg‘ of the missiles stored somewhere deep in the country.
The clip comes after several weeks of clashes and attacks between Iran and the US as well as its ally Israel, both of whom had repeatedly stated their continued strikes had severely depleted Iran’s weapons bases including missile sites.
Iranian leaders have nevertheless refused to back down from their claims of having further military power and the capability to launch strategic weaponry yet deployed in battle.
In the clip the Iranian regime warned it would be able to bomb the water and energy supply of countries in the gulf if more attacks continued on the country especially after threats from Washington that it would bomb Iranian power plants if it could not re-open vital transport links like the Strait of Hormuz.
