“Nobody Wants to Fight for Israel”: U.S. Veteran Arrested, Arm Broken During Senate Protest

WASHINGTON D.C., U.S. – In an event that has generated national fury and goes viral on social media, a decorated US Marine vet, Sgt Brian McGinnis, was violently removed from a Senate Armed Services subcommittee hearing on Wednesday. His body was bent into an unnatural shape and witnesses say his arm let out a loud snap when it fractured.

During a hearing on military readiness while dressed in a US Marine uniform, McGinnis jumped to his feet and called out U.S. Intervention in the Iran-Israel war. His statement was clearly recorded on several video streams, and he has become an internet hero to anti-interventionists.

“America does not want to send its sons and daughters to war for Israel!” McGinnis shouted. “Anyone who feels disillusioned and betrayed by our government, you are not alone!”

When U.S. Capitol Police reached him, a violent struggle ensued in the hearing room doorway. Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT), a former Navy SEAL, even broke protocol and walked down off the dais in order to assist in the eviction.

The video feeds also show McGinnis clutching the doorframe to prevent them from dragging him out. In the tussle, his arm became trapped between the doorframe and door, and it made a sick sound when it snapped under the weight of multiple men pulling him out, prompting horrified screams of “You’re breaking his hand!” from those in the gallery and those activists sitting there to support McGinnis.

Despite his severe injury, McGinnis was taken into custody and transported to George Washington University Hospital. U.S. Capitol Police have pressed him with three counts of assaulting an officer, three counts of resisting an arrest, and one count of unlawful demonstration.

“Mr McGinnis began to vociferously protest, became combative with a Senator and then began to physically resist officers by trying to force his way back into the room. In the process, he ended up getting his own arm stuck in a door,” Capitol Police said in a written statement. Three officers were reportedly treated for minor injuries.
