P. Diddy Sentenced to Over Four Years, Requests Placement in Rehabilitation-Focused Prison

Music mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to four years and two months in federal prison following his conviction on charges of transporting individuals for prostitution. The sentencing concludes a year-long legal battle that has drawn intense media scrutiny and reignited public debate about celebrity accountability.

During the hearing, held at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, Judge Arun Subramanian emphasized the seriousness of the charges and the need for a sentence that reflects the gravity of Combs’ conduct. The court also ordered him to pay a $500,000 fine and placed him under five years of supervised release following his prison term.

Combs, 55, appeared visibly emotional as the sentence was read. The defense requested leniency, citing his contributions to the music industry and his charitable initiatives, but the court maintained that his actions carried “significant harm and exploitation.” Combs has already served 13 months in custody, which will count toward his sentence.

In a statement read by his attorneys, Combs expressed remorse for his actions, saying he accepts responsibility and intends to use his time in prison for reflection and rehabilitation. However, his legal team indicated they plan to appeal the sentence, arguing that certain aspects of the trial were unfairly influenced by public opinion and media coverage.

Request for Specific Facility

Following the sentencing, Combs’ defense submitted a formal request for him to serve his term at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey. The facility, known for its strong drug and behavioral rehabilitation programs, was described by his lawyers as the most suitable environment for his recovery.

The defense cited Combs’ history of substance-related struggles and emphasized his commitment to personal reform. His attorneys argued that placement in a rehabilitation-oriented prison would “provide an opportunity for genuine growth and community reintegration.” The Bureau of Prisons will make the final decision on his placement in the coming weeks.

The court also encouraged Combs to engage in counseling and substance abuse treatment during his incarceration. His attorneys stated that he intends to comply fully with the court’s recommendations, adding that he plans to use his influence to advocate for rehabilitation programs for other inmates once released.

The sentencing represents a dramatic turn for one of the most influential figures in hip-hop and business. Combs rose to fame in the 1990s as a record executive and producer, later expanding his brand into fashion, beverages, and television. His conviction marks one of the most high-profile cases involving a music industry figure in recent years.

Legal analysts have noted that while the sentence was below the maximum allowed, it still signals a strong message about accountability. As Combs prepares to serve his time, his legal battles may not be over, with several civil suits still pending against him.
