Tanzania Military (JWTZ) Announces Recruitment, Lists Eligibility And Requirements

Tanzania’s military has announced a new recruitment exercise targeting young citizens, outlining eligibility requirements, application procedures, and deadlines.

The announcement was issued by Kevin Baraka Byabato, a Lieutenant Colonel and Head of Information and Public Relations at the Tanzania’s Ministry of Defence and National Service.

According to the statement, the recruitment is open to Tanzanian youth ranging from secondary school graduates to those with higher education qualifications. Successful applicants will receive military training alongside programs aimed at developing their professional skills.

Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens by birth. The age limit is 25 years for those with secondary education (Ordinary or Advanced level) and 28 years for those with higher education. Candidates are also required to be physically and mentally fit, of good conduct, and must not have any criminal record.

The military requires applicants to submit copies of a national ID or NIDA number, birth certificate, academic certificates, and a reachable mobile phone number. Those who have completed national service training must also attach their JKT certificate.

The statement further clarifies that youth currently undergoing training in JKT camps are not eligible to apply through this announcement. Additionally, individuals who have previously served in other security forces are disqualified.

All applications must be handwritten and sent by post to the Chief of Personnel, Tanzania Military Headquarters, P.O. Box 194, Dodoma.

The application window opens on April 15, 2026, and closes on April 28, 2026. Applicants are advised to ensure their submissions are sent within this period.
