DODOMA, Tanzania – Mwibara Member of Parliament, Kangi Lugola, has sparked a heated debate in parliament after calling on Mwigulu Nchemba to take firm action against ongoing corruption in the country.
Speaking in parliament in Dodoma on April 8, 2026, Lugola said that despite repeated government statements about fighting corruption, the reality on the ground shows little change. He referenced earlier remarks by the Prime Minister, who pledged to tackle embezzlement of public funds, saying the implementation of those promises is not clearly visible.
Lugola stressed that citizens need to see concrete action against those accused of corruption rather than continued statements. He pointed to persistent challenges in many areas, including his Mwibara constituency, where access to water, proper roads, and adequate health services remains limited, linking the situation to misuse of public resources.
The lawmaker also cited reports from the Controller and Auditor General, noting they consistently highlight financial losses and irregularities, yet follow-up actions remain insufficient. He called for deeper investigations and firm measures against those involved.
To underline his point, Lugola used a football analogy, saying promises without action are like playing a match without scoring goals, insisting that the fight against corruption requires real commitment and swift execution.
His remarks come as the government continues to emphasize its anti-corruption stance, with attention now shifting to whether concrete steps will follow the concerns raised on the parliamentary floor.
