Picsart Opens Creator Monetization to All, Drops Follower Requirements

The AI-powered design platform, Picsart has introduced a creator monetization scheme which anyone using the app can earn from and does not require followers or an invitation.

Creators can now create original content using Picsart’s editing tools, post their content on their social media platforms and then earn according to how well their content performs. The payments are awarded based on metrics like views, shares and comments as opposed to number of followers, moving away from the traditional influencer model which awards based on reach.

Once creators sign up they gain access to a dashboard containing ongoing campaigns and prompts to guide what content to create. Some of these campaigns also encourage using Picsart’s AI tools like its conversational AI which helps to create and animate visuals based on a written or verbal input.

Picsart are presenting this new creator initiative as part of its move towards a platform where its users can create and earn. Picsart was founded in 2011 and currently has over 150 million monthly users. It has in recent years increased the amount of AI tools and creator oriented features available.

Picsart’s CEO Hovhannes Avoyan told multiple outlets that this new scheme was created as a response to existing shortfalls in the creator economy, as smaller creators often struggle to make money from their content. The idea is to reward creative quality and impact.

Creators will be awarded for the content they produce by posting on the app and then submit the work using the campaign links provided and detailing how they made the content using Picsart. Creators can view their performance through Picsart’s dashboard and are then paid via external means.
