James Milner has officially become the Premier League’s all-time appearance leader, moving past Gareth Barry and setting a new benchmark for longevity in English football. He has superseded Gareth Barry in having matches played at Aston Villa, Manchester City and Everton. He has overtaken Gareth Barry and now holds the record in the top division for a player with many appearances.
He was the substitute used in his recent league match, bringing up his 653rd Premier League game and the all-time appearance record. His remarkable 20-year spell at the very top level of English football is highlighted.
Milner made his Premier League debut at the age of 16 as an Aston Villa teenager, and since then, has played for Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool, and most recently Brighton. He has gained a reputation in all these Premier League clubs of being a reliable professional, as he has played in a number of different positions on the park (full-back both left and right, midfield and further forward).
His silverware achievements include two Premier League winners’ medals during his time at Manchester City and Liverpool, in addition to winning the Champions League with Liverpool.
His career has been healthy throughout the years without many long-term injuries during his spell thanks to the care he gives his body.
