The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) East Africa has officially opened applications for its 2026 training cohort, inviting Uganda’s budding filmmakers, producers, directors, scriptwriters and storytellers to apply for the fully funded programme before the February 27, 2026 deadline.

MTF, a Pan-African film and television training institution, combines classroom instruction with hands-on production experience, mentorship and industry networking to help participants develop professional skills. The initiative is designed to close the skills gap in Africa’s creative sector and provide pathways into careers in film and TV.

Participants in the year-long programme gain accredited training and practical exposure in areas such as directing, cinematography, editing, sound design and storytelling preparing them for roles both behind and in front of the camera. Fields covered also include content creation, script development and production management.

“Africa’s film and TV industry is expanding rapidly, and the demand for local content on platforms like DStv and GOtv is rising,” said Rinaldi Jamugisa, PR and Communications Manager at MultiChoice Uganda, emphasising the importance of developing skilled creative talent.

MTF has trained hundreds of African creatives since its inception, with alumni contributing to productions aired on major channels across the continent and beyond. The 2026 intake presents a significant opportunity for Ugandan creatives to build careers in an increasingly vibrant entertainment industry.

Aspiring applicants are encouraged to visit the official MultiChoice Talent Factory portal and submit their applications ahead of the late-February deadline.
