GFA Bolsters Black Stars Technical Team With Five New Experts Ahead of 2026 World Cup

GFA officials say the appointments are meant to strengthen tactical planning, performance analysis and physical preparation as Ghana builds toward the global showpiece co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States.

French coach Alain Ravera has been brought in as an assistant coach, bringing international experience from spells with the Guinea national team and French club AS Monaco.

He’ll work alongside Kim Lars Björkegren, current head coach of the Black Queens, who also joins as an assistant coach after guiding Ghana’s women’s side to bronze at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and qualification for the 2026 WAFCON.

Spanish coach José Daniel Martínez Alfonso will support scouting and video analysis, while Carlos Lozano Romero returns as team physiotherapist, a role he held during Ghana’s 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar.

Completing the team is British-born Ghanaian Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi as performance coach, tasked with overseeing physical conditioning and player optimisation in the lead-up to the tournament.
